Today’s Encouragement is John 16:33 NLT “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart because I have overcome the world.”
Have peace in Me –
Jesus had been teaching his disciples many different things, what was about to happen, his death, and the nature of their upcoming trials and sorrows. And He did so…. “So that you may have peace in Me”! Wait, why does hearing about all this future pain and difficulty bring anyone Peace?
Because my friend, reread his last sentence… Jesus has overcome the world! All its problems, suffering, pain, decay, and even death… Jesus overcame it all!
He told us to “Take heart!” – this is raising our focus, our attention, our thoughts to Jesus, rather than this earth and its many trials and sorrows… consider Jesus… and all this world fades away.
Friends we know the beginning and the End… we see the things of this earth as the mist, the grass, here today and gone tomorrow…. Yet Jesus remains… as Lord of all, as Savior and as our friend and brother.
Father help us to have peace in Jesus. Help us to take heart – because He has overcome everything, this world, our sin, all powers, all of time itself…. He has overcome everything! We ask in Jesus’ Name.
