Today’s Encouragement is Philippians 4:7 NLT Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
God’s peace –
It seems we always want most what we do not have. The absence of God’s peace in one’s heart, for the believer, is a tragic thing. Those who do not believe in Him can never experience God’s Peace, but for those who do believe, his Peace is always nearby. The previous verses explain the ‘how-to’ process of resting in His Peace.
Beginning in verse 4, ‘Rejoice in the Lord, always.’ We can choose, by our own decision to rejoice, celebrate, to find our reason for joy and happiness in God. Choose to Rejoice.
Verse 5 Let your gentleness, be clear to everyone. Choose to be gentle.
Verse 5b The Lord is at hand. Jesus is God with us, He is always present in our lives. Choose to consider His presence.
Verse 6 Do not be anxious about anything – again this is instruction, we can choose to not be anxious. Years of choosing anxiety, exercising it, feeding, nurturing it can take great effort to overcome. Yet the beginning, and most decisive moment of the battle is the choice, “I will not fear!” At that moment, we have full and complete victory over fear and anxiety. Choose to not be anxious, to not fear.
And then my friends, as verse 7 proclaims, you will experience God’s Peace! His Peace which guards our hearts and minds from anxiety and fear, as we live in Jesus!
Father help us to study this passage, apply it, and to choose to trust You, and so – find Your Peace.
