Today’s Encouragement is John 15:5 ESV “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
Nothing –
We believe there are no mistakes in the Bible. We choose to place our faith in this written word as the very Word of God. If not? If not, then any other writing, any other idea, any other philosophy will do… Not for me my friend, and not for you. There is no other option for us who have ‘tasted and seen’ (Psalm 34:8) the goodness of our Lord Jesus.
Now in this verse Jesus makes the proclamation that we believers can, abide, dwell, remain, and live in Him, and because of that abiding, we can bear much fruit, our lives bring about a result, the good fruit of a life abiding in Jesus.
For apart from me – without Jesus and without God – my friends, can you imagine it? To be without Him? I honestly choose not to try to imagine it, the very idea is terrifying to me… what emptiness would be there, what despair, hopelessness, blackness… God forbid! Save me from the very thought of being apart from You!
Nothing – all this life, all our efforts, striving, work, desires, plans and dreams… are nothing! As Ecclesiastes says, “All is vanity” (Ecc 1:2)
Yet my friends, abiding in Him, and He abiding in us… we bear much fruit! For we can do all things through Christ! (Phil 4:13)
Father God, we thank you for the absolutes, the clear truths which You have provided for us in the Bible, Your Word. We accept by faith, this truth today: Without You we are nothing, yet abiding within You, we can do all things! You are a wonderful, kind, and loving Father, thank You Lord.
Nothing without You
