Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 94:17-19 NLT Unless the LORD had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave. [18] I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me. [19] When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.
Renewed Hope –
Where do we go when trouble comes? I confess, I don’t always go to the Lord… instead I have too often asked myself, “Why did God let this happen to me!” Usually followed by “I’m a pretty good guy, I do this and that for the Lord, the Church etc.” as if my actions alone determined my future!
When trouble comes my friend, it is then time to cry out to God, “I am slipping!” To come to Him first and quickly for His help! We too often look to other people, to our own efforts, to the courts, to something other than the Almighty God, Creator of the Universe, Our Loving all-powerful Father, for help.
We may look for some escape from the troubles, food, drinking, drugs, sex, gambling, and any number of options for temporary escape… only to become more deeply and sometimes hopelessly mired in even more of our own troubles.
Father help us to look First, and only, to You for help in our troubles. Grant us Your renewed hope! We ask in Jesus’ Name.
Where could I go?
