Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 37:3-4 Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. [4] Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Desires of your heart –
Friends we all seek the desires of our hearts, don’t we? Everyone has some ‘hearts desires’ tucked away deeply inside. We may share them with one, maybe two trusted souls, but it’s most often our own carefully protected secrets.
These can be negative and destructive desires; self, greed and lust filled. Or perhaps these secrets longings are positive, healthy, and God-honoring.
This passage says God Will! give you these desires! This is, however, conditioned upon where we place our focus, attention, and hearts… Delight yourself in the Lord! This comes first. As we choose to seek God, to find our delight in Him, His work, His Word, His immeasurable Love for us… then God causes the desires of our hearts to become consistent with His desires… and we find ourselves, through this process of being conformed to His heart, having our hearts desires fulfilled.
Lord God, help us be willing to be changed… to release our old hearts desires to be replaced by Your richest and greatest blessings, which become our hearts desires.
