Today’s Encouragement is Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Think about such things-
We get pretty obsessed from time to time, thinking about the problems we face, the challenges, our needs, well, everything and anything.
God provides a simple, clear and powerful solution to our anxiety. It’s His desire for His children, you and me, to live in Peace with Him and with each other, to be free from fear and worry and anxious thoughts. Our minds, when left to their own wandering will drag us down, tear us down, drag us into despair…. Positive thinking, so popular today, is a nice idea, and based on a truth… but the Truth is what sets us free, not just positive thoughts. So we, as believers can focus on The Truth, which is embodied in Jesus Christ. He said it! John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” So, Jesus was either a Liar, Lunatic or…The Lord!
So we are advised in this passage, think about those things which are pure, excellent, praiseworthy…. and the only thing, my friends, which meets this very restrictive, challenging description… is Jesus Christ! Think about Him. Consider Who He is… what He has done… and what He is going to do!
Lord help us to fix our hearts and minds on You, on Your life, Your ways, Your grace and mercy and Love for us and for the people we encounter each day.
