Today’s Encouragement is 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
A new creation –
Are we defined by our past? Some seem to live there, unable to wrest their personalities free from the trauma of the past, their own mistakes or the harm done to them by others. Some live in the future, ‘I’m going to do this or that job, or achieve this or that goal’, constantly living for something ‘out there’.
Is it possible that God is calling us to live in this present reality now? As His beloved, forgiven, redeemed, and reborn children. Free from the past, any and all condemnation for all our sin, the mistakes or suffering of our past, and free to become the person He has designed us to become. We are New Creations! “The old has passed away!” My friends, we are no longer created by, nor defined by, nor limited in any way by, our past!
Now friend, we can choose to live in the past or in our idea of the future…. But! We are – in truth – reborn. Our past may indeed have some level of influence on whom we are, experiences and lessons learned etc, but it doesn’t define us, limit us, nor control us…. Unless we allow it to!
Just as if we had never sinned, we are reborn by Faith in Christ. And just as if the past had never occurred… we are reborn, made new, by Faith in Christ.
Father open our hearts and minds to grasp the freedom, hope, strength and joy of our new life as new creations, reborn, and free from all the past!
