Returned with great joy

Today’s Encouragement is Luke 24:50-53 “And he [Jesus] led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. [51] While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. [52] And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, [53] and were continually in the temple blessing God.”

Returned with great joy –

Imagine with me, we’re following the resurrected Jesus to Bethany, anticipating His words, filled with excitement and hope.  As we walk along, the crowd ahead of us has stopped, Jesus has stepped up on higher ground so that He can see us and He is speaking.  He is praying for us, blessing us, lifting us before The Father!  His face and hands are lifted to Heaven… And slowly He begins to ascend, then in mid-air… He is gone!

The crowd is silent, then a few gasps, a murmur begins, and then a Roar!  Joyously praising God, some sing, many weep, falling to their knees in worship, some wordlessly look around for Him, for something, until in just a few moments- all of us are overwhelmed with Joy!  And a joyous, unrestrained, spontaneous praise erupts from our hearts and spirits!  He was with us, and now has returned to The Father!  We saw it with our eyes, with this crowd, we witnessed The Event!  We are all overcome with Joy!

As one, we returned to Jerusalem, immediately and directly to the Temple, where we continuously remained… praising our Wonderful God… with great joy!

Father thank You for the many treasures, descriptions of such experiences which You have so kindly provided for us in Your Word.  Help us to consider, meditate upon, ponder and recognize the treasure You have granted to Your children.. You truly are very kind to us.
